چکیده

We discuss the scattering of supersymmetric dark matter particles from nuclei at nonzero momentum transfer, After a brief treatment of spin-independent form factors, we carefully formulate the spin-dependent scattering problem. We conclude with a calculation of a spin-dependent cross section in t3tXe; it falls as the momentum transfer increases, but more slowly than the spinindependent cross section.

Response of mica to weakly interacting massive particles.

We calculate spin-dependent cross sections for the scattering from mica of hypothetical weakly interacting dark-matter particles such as neutralinos. The most abundant odd-A isotopes in mica, 27 Al and 39 K, require different shell-model treatments. The calculated cross sections will allow the interpretation of ongoing experiments that look for tracks due to the interaction of dark-matter parti...

There are several observational evidences for the existence of dark matter in the universe. More than about 90% of the matter in the universe is in a form which is not directly observable. If the dark matter is in the form of weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) or cosmions, part of it is captured by the Sun, other stars, and even planets. In this paper, some basic ideas of the cosmio...

The Direct and Indirect Detection of Weakly Interacting Dark Matter Particles

An ever-increasing body of evidence suggests that weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) constitute the bulk of the matter in the Universe. We illustrate how experimental data, dimensional analysis and Standard Model particle physics are sufficient to evaluate and compare the potential of detectors searching for such particles either directly (e.g. by their scattering in germanium detecto...

New contribution to scattering of weakly interacting massive particles on nuclei.

A weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) is perhaps the most promising candidate for the dark matter in the Galactic halo. The WIMP detection rate in laboratory searches is fixed by the cross section for elastic WIMP-nucleus scattering. Here we calculate the contribution to this cross section from two-nucleon currents from pion exchange in the nucleus and show that it may, in some cases, be...

Direct and Indirect Searches for Dark Matter in the Form of Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (wimps)

Numerous lines of evidence indicate that the matter content of the Universe is dominated by some unseen component. Determining the nature of this Dark Matter is one of the most important problems in cosmology. Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs) are widely considered to be one of the best candidates which may comprise the Dark Matter. A brief overview of the different methods being use...
